Ramblings of a Textile Designer

Well its that time, Yes time to start my blog on the fascination of textiles and the creation of my designs. I will be keeping this blog to bring attention to the textile industry, and also to highlight the fact that it is easy for anyone to create fascinating designs that are appealing to anyone.

I will be looking at a wide variety of tequnics in textiles. from the very basics to the more advanced. If you have a passion for fabrics and want to know how to easy make accessories for your home or indeed your wardrobe, Watch this space!!

A little about me…..

My name is Dee Hudson, I live in the UK, Kent to be more exact. I have been in the textile industry for 30 years. Working in both fashion and interiors. My mum taught me how to sew, Weave, Spin, quilt, embroider,, in fact if its made of fabric, I have probably made it. I started my working life in soft furnishings, then decided that I wanted to work in fashion, I did an apprenticeship in the Fur trade as fur machinist, but decided to leave 3 years later as the industry was declining due to trends. Back to the soft furnishings to complete my apprenticeship in interior design.

In 2004 I decided to get some formal qualifications in art and design. so did my BETC in Art and Design and a ‘A’ level in Fine Art, I am currently in my final year at university, for BA Applied and Decorative Arts. Majoring in Textiles.
